Colorado Smoky Quartz with Hematite and Siderite

These deep black Smoky Quartz specimens are mined in Park County, Colorado from the LGPD #2 Claim.  The specimens are from a  brown to black variety of quartz some of the specimens contain Hematite after Siderite. 

Smoky Quartz is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hexagonal crystal structure. Smoky Quartz can vary in color from deep brown/black to a light pale brown.  Smoky Quartz is found all over the world.  Smoky Quartz is thought to be a protective and grounding crystal.  Smoky Quartz is believed to transmute negative energies, aid in practicality, and organization.  It is also thought to assist in manifestation of inspirations and dreams. Smoky quartz is sensitive to light and will fade over time if put in direct sunlight.
