Tourmaline is a crystalline boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminum, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. Tourmaline is classified as a semi-precious stone and is rated between 7 and 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Tourmaline metaphysically is believed to balance the right-left sides of the brain along with being associated with imagination and dreams. Green Tourmaline is metaphysically one of the premier stones for self healing and is associated with the Heart Chakra.
