This Quartz with Hematite & Rutile mineral combo specimen is from Brazil, featuring a combination of sharp black hematite crystals and golden needles of rutile all resting on a terminated clear quartz crystal. The hematite occurs in a sharp lustrous crystal that has intricate triangular striations. The golden rutile needles are growing on both the outside of the specimen and within the clear quartz point which also features a rainbow on this display side.
Rutile, also known as titanium dioxide, is a mineral that is often found in association with quartz. When present in quartz, it can appear as golden or reddish-brown needle-like inclusions that can be seen scattered within the crystal.
