Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral and is a 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. In Rhodochrosite's pure form, it is typically a rose-red color, but impure specimens can be shades of pink to pale brown. Rhodochrosite is Argentina's "national gemstone" and Colorado officially named it as its state mineral in 2002. Rhodochrosite metaphysically is thought to encourage a positive outlook, as well as open spiritual insight and understanding.
