    Hematite

Hematite, also spelled as haematite, is the mineral form of iron oxide, one of several iron oxides. Hematite is the oldest known iron oxide mineral that has ever formed on earth, and is widespread in rocks and soils. Hematite is colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red.  Hematite is rated between 5.5 and 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale.  Hematite is referred to as a grounding stone that is thought to help to develop will power and the ability to focus energies.  In the metaphysical world it is often used for dream work and meditation.
