Pyrite Specimen 8” x 4” x 4”

This jaw dropping all natural large Pyrite specimen comes from Peru. This pyrite specimen measures 8 x 5 x 4 inches and weighs over 8 lbs. The large pyrite cubes form a cluster that is accented by clusters of smaller pyrite cubes. Heavy striations and varying orientations of the crystals create a complex and visually stunning display piece. 

The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulfide. Pyrite is considered the most common of the sulfide minerals and is rated between 6 and 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. Metaphysically Pyrite is believed to encourage self-recognition, as well as reveal secrets and memories.
