Tiger Iron Sphere from Australia 9”

This tiger iron sphere is a combination of tigers eye, red jasper, and hematite that occurs in massive form and usually has swirling patterns. This heavy sphere weighs in at 34.8 pounds and measures 8 inches diameter. This specimen is from Australia. 

Banded iron formations are  a chemically precipitated sediment that only formed in the early days of Earth's history. Before 1.7 billion years ago, the earth's atmosphere had less oxygen than it does now and the banded iron formation only occurred in these conditions. The disappearance of banded iron formation after 1.7 billion years is one of the lines of evidence of the great oxidation event which is responsible for our modern oxygen rich atmosphere. 

Tiger iron is said to contain the metaphysical properties of its component stones--the grounding power and circulatory affinity of hematite; the healing power and blood-cleansing abilities of red jasper; the energizing power and clarity inducing strength of tiger-eye--as well as being considered powerful in its own right. Tiger iron is believed to be a rare and potent three-fold stone; it grounds energies, protects the spirit and manifests the will. As such, practitioners are wary when pairing it with other stones.
