Trilobites are an extinct marine arthropod that form the class Trilobita. Trilobite fossils are found worldwide, with many thousands of known species. Because they evolved rapidly, and molted like other arthropods, trilobites serve as excellent index fossils, enabling geologists to date the age of the rocks in which they are found.

Trilobites are a group of extinct marine arthropods that lived during the Paleozoic era, from about 521 to 252 million years ago. They are well-known for their distinctive three-lobed body shape and are considered to be among the most diverse and widespread of all fossil groups. Trilobite fossils have been found all over the world, including in Morocco. The Atlas Mountains in Morocco are particularly well known for their trilobite fossils, which can be found in the Devonian-aged rocks there. These trilobite fossils are from the Phacops genus, which are known for their large compound eyes and well-preserved exoskeletons. The fossils found in Morocco are considered to be of high quality and are often collected and sold as decorative items. Due to its easy accessibility, Morocco is one of the most popular destinations for trilobite fossil hunters and collectors.
