This is a truly phenomenal specimen of Mangano Calcite! This Mangano Calcite Cluster has very unique formations of clustered crystals that sets it apart. This Mangano Calcite Cluster comes from China. Mangano Calcite is a milky white to light pink in color and actually turns neon pink under a black light!!
Mangano Calcite, also known as Manganoan Calcite, is a manganese calcium carbonate mineral and member of the Calcite family. Its color can range from light to dark pink depending on the amount of Manganese in it. It's common to have white inclusions of Calcite within this crystal, sometimes in a banding formation. This mineral was first discovered in 1846 by A. Breithaupt in Banská, Štiavnica, Slovakia. He named it in reference to the inclusion of Manganese found within. From the Daye Iron Mne in the Hubei Providence in China. It is also fluoresces neon Pink!!
Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. The Mohs scale of mineral hardness, based on scratch hardness comparison, defines value 3 as "calcite". How is calcite formed? Calcite can form by direct precipitation from waters rich in calcium. As concentrations increase or the amount of water decreases crystals of solid calcite crystals form. Calcite can also form in caves and where springs emerge on the surface Calcite metaphysically is believed to amplify thought, improve memory, and promote development.
