Tumbled polished Larimar stones and measure around 1" in size.
Larimar is a blue variety of the mineral Pectolite. Pectolite is not a rare mineral, but the exquisite sea-blue color exhibited in the Larimar variety is very unique and only comes from one place in the world. It is found only in one square kilometer of a limited deposit in the Dominican Republic mountains. Larimar is a volcanic stone, the result of volcanic activity that occurred millions of years ago. Larimar is virtually the only gemstone to be found in the entire Caribbean. It is a lovely sea-blue color that is very reminiscent of the Caribbean seas. The indigenous Taíno people probably knew about Larimar for centuries but it was officially discovered in 1974 by Miguel Mendez and a member of the peace corps, Normal Rilling. It was first given the name Travelina, before it was renamed after Mendez’s daughter Larissa blended with the Spanish word for the sea- mar.
Larimar is commonly believed to be a calming stone, offering many incredible healing powers. Providing clear communication, the emotional strength and stability that enables one to speak from the heart. It allows access to the divine feminine.
