Kyanite Rough Specimen 4.01-5.9”

These specimens are beautiful natural rough Blue Kyanite, measuring approximately 4.01-5.9 inches in length and weigh 8-12oz. Some specimens have mica and black tourmaline imbedded within the Kyanite.  

Kyanite is a fibrous gemstone that normally comes in shades of blue but can be found in greens, oranges, reds, and brown color variations. Kyanite can be difficult to cut because of variable hardness and is normally seen in its rough form. Kyanite is a typically blue aluminosilicate mineral, commonly found in aluminum-rich metamorphic pegmatites and/or sedimentary rock. Its name comes from the same origin as that of the color cyan, being derived from the Ancient Greek word κύανος. Kyanite is strongly anisotropic, in that its hardness varies depending on its crystallographic direction, between 4.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale.

 Kyanite is thought to raise spiritual vibrational frequency, aid in awareness and perception, and helps develop positive thought. Kyanite is thought metaphysically to raise spiritual vibrational frequency and aid in awareness. It is believed that Blue Kyanite opens the throat chakra, encouraging communication and self-expression.
