Septarian stones are known for having seven cracks and forming calcite crystal that turns into aragonite later. It is thought a Sepatarian stone carries healing as well as overall health powers in it.

Septarian stones were formed as a result of volcanic eruptions that happened 500 million years ago. Septarian stones are thought to possess healing and well-being properties. Get this intriguing stone in medium size at Crystal Joys.

Septarian is a mixture of Aragonite, Calcite, and Limestone. The name Septarian comes from the Latin word “septem”, meaning seven because it seems to form in patterns of seven. The yellow colored material is Calcite, the brown is Aragonite, and the outer grey is limestone. The energy is pure Earth.

These minerals started their journey towards fusion several million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. Dead sea life at the bottom of the ocean started to decompose. The minerals in their shells attracted sediment, which encompassed the decaying bodies to form distinct nodules.

Eventually, ocean levels receded, and the Septarian nodules dried out. This formed distinct cracks and fissures. Most fissures burst outward into a seven-pointed star, leading to the stone’s unique name. After millions of years, the various minerals crystallized to form the tri-colored stone we know today. The stone has hues of white, dark brown, gray, and yellow.
