Rich in history and color, the Lapis Lazuli Tumbled Stone ~1 inch is a vivid blue crystal streaked with white calcite and flecked with golden pyrite. These stones are sourced from Afghanistan, the region that has supplied the world with its finest lapis for thousands of years.

Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue metamorphic rock that has been prized since antiquity for its striking hue. In ancient Egypt, it was used for amulets, scarabs, and jewelry. During the Middle Ages, lapis was ground into ultramarine pigment—the rarest and most expensive blue, seen in masterpieces like the frescos of the Sistine Chapel and Vermeer’s Girl with the Pearl Earring. On the Mohs scale, lapis measures between 5 and 5.5.

Metaphysically, lapis is one of the oldest spiritual stones, associated with wisdom, truth, and enlightenment. Believed to stimulate the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, it is thought to promote honesty, strengthen friendships, and encourage deeper self-awareness. Many also regard it as a protective stone, traditionally worn to ward off negative energy.
