Freshwater pearls form in various species of freshwater mussels that live in lakes, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of fresh water. Organic gemstones, Pearls are formed by shelled mollusks They are mainly bivalved oysters and mussels. Pearls are made up of mother-of-pearl which is mainly aragonite and complex proteins that form mollusk shells. Pearls are metaphysically regarded as a way to remove the ill effects of the moon and strengthen the mind.  Pearls are thought to reduce sleep discomfort when worn overnight or placed under the pillow.
