Quartz after Danburite Crystal Point 2.75” x 1”

This Quartz after Danburite Crystal Point comes from the Bor Mine in Dalnegorsk, Russia. These crystal points were mined in 2004 and measure roughly 2.75” x 1”. The danburite formed and then was psudomorphically replaced by crystalline quartz. 

Quartz and danburite are two different minerals. Quartz is a common mineral found in many types of rocks, including granite, sandstone, and quartzite. It is composed of silicon dioxide and is commonly utilized in many industrial and decorative applications. Danburite, on the other hand, is a less common mineral that is typically found in metamorphic rocks. It is composed of calcium borosilicate and is typically colorless or white in color. It is not commonly utilized in industrial applications, but is sometimes utilized as a gemstone.
