These black Tektite chunks from Tan-Hai, China are about 3 to 4" in size.

Tektites are a type of natural glass formed by the impact of a meteorite on the Earth's surface. They are typically small, rounded, and black in color. Tan-hai tektites are a specific type of tektite found in China and are named after the location where they were first discovered, the Tan-hai River in the Guangdong Province. They are considered to be some of the oldest known tektites and are believed to have formed about 700 million years ago. Although not a birthstone, tektite is affiliated with the zodiac signs Aries and Cancer.
